“I have found that life’s problems tend to be solved only if one can identify and address their root cause. However, our society generally addresses problems by chasing symptoms without much interest in their root cause — declaring war on any given problem with seemingly no sense of irony, and problems seem to only get worse the further the battle goes on. In contrast, Paul Levy has fearlessly and brilliantly identified the root cause of pretty much everything that plagues us in one concept, and to say it hits home for me is quite an understatement. He has sort of an x-ray vision through the chaos, academic theory, and hypocrisy of our world, and he can articulate exactly what causes the things that plague our society. With his masterful command of words, he can explain this root cause that seems to elude most of the world. Paul’s understanding of this concept, in my opinion, holds the key to genuine solutions for society’s deepest troubles.

More selfishly though, I have to admit that his understanding of this root cause of human suffering has helped me as an individual more than I can describe. When someone understands Wetiko like Paul does, then a single conversation can pierce right to the heart of any personal matter in a way that, say, therapy never could. His life experience, empathy, and x-ray vision into the core of human suffering is truly extraordinary. It’s ironic that the profound understanding of evil can be the thing that allows him to truly see another person’s humanity, to empathize completely, and as a result, to truly empower another. I’ll have to read more of his work to understand how exactly that paradox works, but I think that this is typical of the bigger paradox within his area of expertise. It’s most definitely not a simple thing to understand, and that’s why few do. I find that it’s equally as fascinating as it is nurturing to learn from him. I’m beyond grateful to have met Paul and I hope to keep learning from him for years to come. ”

“I know Paul through his Shift Network course and the Awakening in the Dream group which grew out of it. I also had the privilege of having several private sessions with him. Through the private sessions, I became much more aware of my dreams. While I rarely become really lucid in my dreams, Paul helped me see the messages they were trying to convey, and taught me through active imagination how to transcend the issues or problems the dreams were presenting. Paul would often point out the way my everyday life was also like a dream I could become lucid in, and transcend limitations there as well. So I have grown much more gutsy in my life, tackling projects I would not dare to have considered before working with Paul.

In his Awakening in the Dream Group, I started boldly revealing my positions on various hot button controversial issues, and slowly others revealed theirs. Our group became a loving container of wildly divergent viewpoints, which, in ordinary life, you just do not see. Somehow Paul, in his humble, boyish manner, kept the group moving on a revelatory path which was always a little scary, but somehow definitely safe. I became much more aware of how regularly I project my stuff on others, and began to understand and sometimes expressed what others in the group triggered in me. This has become a very valuable skill to me as I do a lot of work in the political realm where positions are very tightly held, and projections fly.

Contact with Paul over this year has helped me to strongly and sweetly speak my truths while, by understanding the inner stuff of others, disarming them. So these others would feel held and respected even though I was seriously challenging their positions. “Hello to you in the Shiftaverse. I thought it might be helpful if I were to say a word or two regarding Paul and my relationship to him. It has been fifteen plus years that we have gathered on Wednesday nights in Portland, with very few exceptions, to meet as a community, to allow for whatever might evolve from our gatherings. Those of you so interested may find in his many writings a rather astonishingly wide-ranging compendium of deep spiritual resources including, as a very partial catalogue: connections to Carl Jung, Tibetan Buddhism, Kabballah, Alchemy, Esoteric Christianity, quantum mechanics, Phillip K. Dick etc., etc. Those are all connections of an amazing scope of deeper mind connections.

What I’d like to share is, however, of how the Wednesday night gatherings of typically 8-14 of us would meet in a circle of community, open to and with a deep and respectful compassion for each other and our everyday life experiences; how we would meet in an alchemical container, allowing for whatever and wherever the path may lead us, “trusting the gold”, so to speak. I have seen so many and so blessed transformations take place over the years, taking place within our group. This is by way of saying that Paul’s classes include profound teachings/transmissions and an almost unparalleled courage in confronting evil, inclusive of our current realities, as encompassed and amplified in Wetiko, but also including an amazing understanding and transformative gnosis for those willing to companion him, on this gnosis of the heart.”
